The nurse in the ph**o was Edith Shain who died at the age of 91 on June 20, 2010. There is a statue of the kiss along the waterfront in San Diego.
mhpr262 - December 28, 2009, 4:29 pm
interesting story behind the pic, too. Nobody knew who these two people were for decades, their identities were discovered just a few years ago. Was an article in a newspaper in Germany.
CANADA - August 12, 2009, 11:05 am
k thanks. i like some of these they were done well
spacedog - August 12, 2009, 10:46 am
This isn't anonymous either, canada. Doofenshmirtz posted it. There is a glitch in the create program. Look on the "newest" thumb screen.
CANADA - August 12, 2009, 10:42 am
why did you post this without a name?

ok ok thats enough please WW2 Was years ago as for this "debt" we still owe the US id like to remind you that most british casualties in the gulf war was from US friendly fire debt paid in blood we are even now lets forget this and focus on the terrorists
Mark - March 30, 2009, 9:23 am
"evaded"??? Do you mean avoided? Do you mean Roosevelt knew? Do you mean that the US policies forced Japan into the attack? Are you one "who cares?" Your comment is pointless unless you clarify what it is you're babbling about.
Cwalda - March 30, 2009, 5:40 am
Guessing how would WW2 end without US is pointless. A lot of things would be a lot different. On the other hand, everyone (who cares) know that Pearl Harbor could be evaded.
Mark - January 22, 2009, 4:36 pm
It doesn't take balls to sacrifice every man, woman, and child in your country. It takes balls to sacrifice yourself for every man, woman, and child in your country. A lot of good men on both sides proved that they had real serious balls.
barockeva - January 22, 2009, 4:27 pm
The Japanese were willing to sacrifice every man woman and child in their country. That takes serious balls.
rerun - January 14, 2009, 1:57 pm
xx needs to brush up on his history - Japan attacked the US, not the other way around
Mark - January 14, 2009, 1:39 pm
If it wasn't for the US in World War II, chances are you wouldn't be here saying stupid **** like that. Just say thank you and move along.
barockeva - January 13, 2009, 1:14 pm
Real honor, the Japanese had it.
randomDood - December 28, 2008, 11:12 pm
Uh... xx, Japan wasn't "a little country" in WWII, dumbass. They were a facist superpower (not to mention suicidal).
xx - December 28, 2008, 7:44 pm
in usa way! go, attack a little country, and admire how great you are..... and if you lose-pretend it wasnt a war! just like in vietnam!
